HUMBLE, Texas - Oklahoma States top-ranked mens golf team picked up its fourth win of the 2004-05 season on Sunday with its two-stroke triumph at the Hall of Fame Invitational being held at Redstone Golf Club.
The Cowboys 4-under round of 284 was enough to outlast UNLV, which entered the day one shot back. OSU finished with a 54-hole total of 846, 18-under, and was joined by the Rebels as the only two squads in the 19-team field to break par. New Mexico finished a distant third at 1-over 865.
UNLVs Ryan Moore finished atop the individual leaderboard at 10-under 206. The 2004 NCAA medalist, Moore held off a charge by Cowboy sophomore Tyler Leon to earn the one-stroke victory. Leon rebounded from a 76 on Friday with rounds of 64 and 67 to get to 9-under 207 for the event and narrowly miss picking up his second career victory.
Junior Zack Robinson began the day tied for second before carding a 72 to earn his third consecutive top-10 finish, tying for fourth at 211.
Pablo Martin entered the day tied with Robinson before a 73 on Sunday dropped the freshman into sixth at 4-under 212, giving him his fifth top 10 in seven career stroke play events.
Senior Alex Norn posted his low round of the tournament with an even-par 72 to jump 19 spots into a tie for 41st place at 223, while sophomore Ryan Poseys round of 75 moved him into a tie for 60th at 226.
Competing individually, junior Chris Clarke rose 24 spots into a tie for 77th at 231, while sophomore Zac Reynolds came in at 242 after a final-round 84 for a 101st-place finish.
OSU will return to action on April 4 when it travels to Austin, Texas to take part in the Morris Williams Intercollegiate.
