Davis Low Man at Mid-Am


WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) --Tripp Davis of Norman, Okla., shot a 4-under-par 66 on Sunday to lead the 64 match-play qualifiers in the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
The 36-year-old Davis had a 4-under 137 total for two rounds on the Wilmington Country Club's North and South courses. He played the North course Sunday.
Trip Kuehne, 31, of Dallas, and Jeff Wilson, 40, of Fairfield, Calif., finished a stroke back at 138. Kuehne shot a 69 and Wilson had a 67, both on the North course.
Defending champion George Zahringer, 50, of New York, shot a 72 on the South course - the site of the match-play portion of the tournament for players 25 and older - to qualify at 147.
