The victory comes on the heels of her win at the Womens Western Amateur just two weeks ago, where she successfully won the event for the second year in a row.
Now, she goes forward into the summer with big hopes and dreams.
Im taking everything I can from this and running as fast as I can with it, said an exuberant Duncan. Ive got two weeks at home to enjoy it. This gives me a tremendous amount of confidence for the rest of the summer.
The 21-year-old will be competing in the Trans-National and the U.S. Womens Amateur in the upcoming months, and she hopes to contend in each in the same fashion that she did this week at Pinehurst.
Two-down to Epps entering the 13th hole of the first 18 holes, it looked as if the outcome might be a bit different, but Duncan came charging back and won four of the final six holes to finish the morning round 2-up.
The afternoon round did not last long, as Duncan came out firing with hole-winning birdies at Nos. 1, 3 and 4. She finally closed out the match with a par at No. 13. She ended six holes ahead of Epps.
I hit some poor shots coming in, claimed Texan Epps. I also became a little timid with my putter, which had been my saving grace all week. So that hurt my confidence. Then I think I started to force things a little bit.
There was no forcing things on Duncans part. All week, she was deliberate and solid.
Its just awesome, she said. I played awesome all week. Really, I just played steady.
