Dutch Amateur Leads in Homeland

Niels Boysen, a 27-year-old Dutch amateur, fired a 7-under-par 64 to grab a shocking first-round lead in the TNT Dutch Open.
Boysen leads Dean Robertson, Andrew Coltart and Peter Baker by two shots. Padraig Harrington is in a group three back at 4-under. Darren Clarke and Ernie Els are four off the pace after a pair of 68s.
Boysen recorded nine birdies Thursday at Noordwijkse Golf Club in Holland. Hes earned an economics degree and said he has no plans on pursuing a professional golf career.
This is my tenth attempt in this tournament and I hadnt even made one cut before. Dont ask me why I managed to do this, said Boysen.
Coltart is vying for a spot on the 2001 European Ryder Cup team. The 31-year-old Scot is currently 10th on the points list, thanks in large part to his victory earlier in the year at the Great North Open.
I am trying to win tournaments and to climb the World Ranking, said Coltart. If I can achieve that, the little perks such as (the Ryder Cup) will come along.
Coltart made a double-bogey 7 on his 11th hole, but recovered with three birdies for an inward 34.
