For Sergio Garcia, that means his number of events for the season now stands at 11, as the Spanish star would have competed in the event had it not been for the terrorist attacks of September 11.
This ruling assures Garcia of fulfilling the minimum number of tournaments to retain full-time status on the tour, and thereby adds his name on the Tours official money list.
However, the ruling also assures that Alastair Forsyths finishing position of No. 116 on the money list is set.
Forsyth might have ended at the cutoff spot of 115th had the ruling gone the other way, but Garcias addition to the money count saw him slide off.
The European Tour expressed sympathy to the rookies situation nevertheless, and promised Forsyth 26 starts for the 2002 season.
