Fathers Day Dream Trip Campaign Begins

ORLANDO, Fla. ' Announcing on its Live From the Masters telecast tonight, the GOLF CHANNEL will launch an expansive, companywide initiative honoring Dads across America.
 
The GOLF CHANNEL Fathers Day Dream Trip will celebrate the special connection between fathers and their children, and, as part of the campaign, will honor one lucky father and his son or daughter with a trip of a lifetime to the home of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland.
 
The Dream Trip will be supported by a multi-media, national campaign designed to bring the national holiday to the forefront of Americas consciousness. Dicks Sporting Goods and TaylorMade-adidas Golf are providing major support as partners for the campaign. The winner will be announced during the networks Live From the U.S. Open telecast on Fathers Day, which always falls on the same day as the final round of the U.S. Open Championship.
 
If youve ever played the game of golf, chances are it was your father who placed that golf club in your hands for the very first time. And, most likely, it was your father who taught you the lessons that have not only served you well on the golf course, but also in life, said GOLF CHANNEL President Page Thompson.
 
By the sheer nature of the sport, golf has played such an important role in starting or enriching father-son-and-daughter relationships. Through a Dads wisdom and guidance, you learned about honor, tradition, respect, sportsmanship, perseverance and patience. And because of golf, you shared time and memories with your father that will last forever. The GOLF CHANNEL hopes to bring these kinds of special relationships to light and celebrate those important bonds.
 
The core of the GOLF CHANNELs Fathers Day Dream Trip campaign is a contest that encourages consumers to submit a story that recounts a life lesson learned from their fathers through the game of golf. Photos and videos can support any entry.
 
Twenty-five semi-finalists will each receive a GOLF CHANNEL Prize Pack, including a $50 gift card from Dicks Sporting Goods and a dozen TaylorMade golf balls. Five finalists will receive a trip to the U.S. Open in San Diego, in addition to a GOLF CHANNEL Prize Package including a $1,000 gift card from Dicks Sporting Goods and a full set of TaylorMade golf clubs. The grand-prize winner will receive a dream trip to the home of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland, as well as a GOLF CHANNEL Prize Pack, including a $5,000 gift card from Dicks Sporting Goods and $5,000 worth of golf equipment and apparel from TaylorMade-adidas Golf.
 
Consumers also will be encouraged to vote for their favorite entry among the five finalists, which will give them a chance at a GOLF CHANNEL prize package.
 
A dedicated Fathers Day Dream Trip micro-site at www.GolfChannel.com/FathersDay will serve as the headquarters for the campaign, providing consumers with a chance to enter the essay contest, send Fathers Day e-cards, view entries, watch Fathers Day videos recorded by celebrities and professional golfers, including PGA TOUR stars; and take a virtual tour of St. Andrews, Scotland.
