Fifteen More Players Exempt for Open

Following last weeks Western Open, fifteen additional players have automatically qualified to play in the upcoming British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.
Due to the fact that Americans had not been receiving the best opportunity to compete in Opens of past, it was decided this year to designate the PGA Tour's Western as an official qualifier ' in recent times, players had to travel to Europe and compete in qualifying tournaments.
The 15 qualifiers were determined in one of two ways:
1) The first seven slots were allotted to those who had collected the most earnings ' and were NOT already exempt ' in The Players Championship and the five most recent tournaments on the PGA Tour (St. Jude Classic, U.S. Open, Buick Classic, Greater Hartford Open and the Western).
2) The final eight spots were given to the top-eight earners from the Western ALONE, who had not already otherwise qualified.
The following are those players who qualified and will be making the trip to England next week:

Bob Estes
David Frost
Brian Gay
Matt Gogel
