Final Qualifying Stage Set to Tee Off

PGA Tour (75x100)Its that time of year when the throat is a little drier, the hands are a little wetter, and each shot takes on infinitely more importance. November 28 is the opening date for the PGA Tour Qualifying School Final Stage, a tournament that will last until Dec. 3 in a six-day, six-round run.
The low 35 and those tying for 35th gain their cards next year for the PGA Tour. Entry into tournaments is done by order of finish in this Q-School, so the final position is vital. Others in the field will gain at least conditional status for the Buy.Com Tour, meaning that everyone at this final stage of qualifying is assured of having a place to play next year.
Seventeen-year-old Ty Tyron is in the field at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., as well as 43-year-olds Blaine McCallister, Gary Hallberg and Russ Cochran. Nolan Henke will play, as will Robert Gamez, Tommy Tolles, Tom Byrum, Mike Heinen, Jim McGovern and Tommy Armour III.
Among the international players attending are Alex Cejka of Germany; Luke Donald of England; Hidemichi Tanaka of Japan; Trevor Dodds of South Africa; Tjaart Van Der Walt of Holland; Jeev Singh of India; Christopher Hanell of Monaco; Aaron Baddeley, Mark Hensby, Mathew Goggin, Peter Lonard, John Senden, Nathan Green and Bradley Hughes of Australia; Steven Aiker of New Zealand; and Todd Fanning, Jim Rutledge and Jon Mills of Canada.
