Finals Set at 76th Public Links Championship

RSS

USGAArizona States Chez Reavie and Walker Cup veteran Danny Green won both their matches Friday to advance to the finals of the 76th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

Reavie, a sophmore from Mesa, Ariz., beat Andrew Sanders 3-and-1 in the morning quarterfinals and then ousted Alan Hill of Spring Branch, Tex. 3-and-1 in the semifinals to charge into Saturdays finale.

Green, 44, of Jackson, Tenn., beat Mark Farrell 4-and-2 in the morning and then edged Adam Fuchs 2-up in the afternoon semifinals.

While the winner of the 36-hole championship match will receive an invite to the 2002 Masters, Green doesnt seem to be overly-rattled with those stakes.

Ive been there and done that twice, claimed Green, who won the 99 Mid-Amateur and was the runner-up in the 89 U.S. Amateur. The pressure is on the kid to see if he can handle it.
