Finals Set Molder vs Sims for North and South Title


Bryce Molder continued his march into the late stages of the 101st North and South Amateur Championship Thursday, winning both his matches and advancing into the finals at Pinehursts famed No. 2 course.
Molder, a student at Georgia Tech and the No. 1-ranked golfer in the GolfWeek/Sagarin College Rankings, beat 23-year-old David Sanchez 1-up in the quarterfinals and then handed Brandt Snedeker a 1-up defeat in the afternoon semifinals.
He will now face recent grad of Rhode Island Michael Sims for the title.
Sims, of Southampton, Bermuda, ousted Franklin Hatchett 1-up in the morning and then canned a 6-foot birdie putt on the 20th hole to beat Michael Webb in the afternoon.
The championship match is scheduled for 36 holes over the 7,076-yard par-72 Pinehurst layout.
