Last year, Daniel Chopra set the all-time Nationwide Tour scoring record with a sizzling 30-under total to shattered the all-time low 72-hole score in the tour's history by four strokes.
The event's home, the 7,089-yard, par-72 Dominion Club on the northeast side of Richmond, ranked as the easiest on tour in 2004 with scores averaging almost three full shots under par. It was also here in 1998 that Notah Begay posted his historic 59.
Five of the top 10 on the tour's money list will be on hand to welcome Henley in his debut, although last week's winner, Chris Couch will not be in the field.
Henley will enter the tournament in the wake of fellow Big Break winner Danielle Amiee's buzz-generating debut two weeks ago at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill. Amiee drew the second-largest gallery, next to Annika Sorenstam, at the LPGA Tour event.
Henley outlasted nine other competitors in the second installment of The Golf Channels popular reality series, earning exemptions to play in four Nationwide Tour events: the Henrico County Open (Richmond, Va.), the LaSalle Bank Open (Chicago, Ill.), the Lake Erie Charity Classic (Erie, Pa.) and the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic (Bridgeport, W. Va.). He has also received sponor's exemptions into the June 2 - 5 - Chattanooga Classic (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and the Knoxville Open (Knoxville, Tenn.).
Golf Channel coverage from The Dominion Club in Richmond, Va., will begin Thursday at 1:30 p.m. (ET), running through Sunday.
Opening the week on Monday, Henley will be the special Your Game Night guest on The Golf Channel. Alongside his coach Scott Hamilton, Henley will discuss his physical and mental preparations for his first Big Break exemption, as well as a chipping tip he got from PGA Tour player Loren Roberts.
