Sixteen teams, consisting of fathers and sons, will compete in the two-day event. A scramble format will be played both days, beginning Saturday. The winners will split the first-place prize.
This is the eighth playing of the tournament, which awards the Willie Park Trophy ' named in honor of the first winner of the British Open. His son, Willie Park, Jr., later won two British Opens. The trophy isnt a statue, but actually a belt, reminiscent of that awarded to a boxing champion.
The Floyds have won this event five times. Raymond and Raymond, Jr. were victorious from 1995-97 and also from 1999-2001. Bob and David Charles are the only other father-son combo to win the title, winning in 1998.
