Former Gridder Toliver Likes Golf Tour

The best known name in the Tight Lies Tour's Sprint PCS Open in Lake Charles, La., this week does not, by his own admission, have much of a chance to win.
That doesn't mean that former New Orleans Saints quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver is doing badly at his new career.
Next week Tolliver will be back on the Celebrity Players Tour, where he pocketed $93,075 in just 11 tournaments last year.
Tolliver, who played for five NFL teams in 11 years, played a lot of golf after retiring from the Saints in 2000. 'It's really helped my game,' he said.
Tolliver's earnings were third on the tour last year and he won two events.
Tolliver has been addicted to golf since he first took up the game before his senior year at Texas Tech and birdied the first hole he played.
'I got decent at golf faster than most people,' he said. 'I had to. I was playing in Lubbock (Texas) with good players and those crooks wouldn't give me any shots. You learn to get the ball in the hole.'
