Stan Utley, Joe Daley, Ken Green and Andy Sanders are tied at 7-under-par after the foggy day.
Utley was the only one of the quartet of leaders to play on the par-71 Keowee Vineyards course, posting a bogey-free round en route to a course-record-setting 64. Daley, Green and Sanders each shot a 65 on the par-72 Cliffs Valley course.
Todd Fischer and Alex Cejka are one stroke back after shooting 6-under 66s on the Cliffs Valley course. Seven players are within two shots of the lead at 5-under par, including Dave Stockton, Jr., (Keowee Vineyards), Jason Dufner (Cliffs Valley), Guy Boros (KV), Gary Hallberg (CV), Tyler Williamson (CV), Jason Gore (KV) and Shane Bertsch (CV).
'I don't know what it is, but I love this place,' Utley said. 'Tomorrow could be totally different, but the curious thing about my game is that I've kind of found the swing I've been searching for. The short game has always been there. If I can knock it off the tee in play, I'm going to do OK usually.'
A heavy fog pushed tee times back an hour and a half on the Valley course and nearly two hours on the Keowee Vineyards layout.
Among the celebrities participating this week are television journalist Maury Povich, actors Jamie Farr and John O'Hurley, tennis player Jim Courier, former NFL standouts Steve Bartkowski, Billy Joe Tolliver and George Rogers, and recording artists Edwin McCain, Rudy Gatlin and Steve Gatlin.
