Garcia Looks To Be a Lock for Ryder Cup

Spanish sensation Sergio Garcia has elected to compete in this weeks BMW International Open, and that has apparently impressed European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance.
I promised Sergio hes in, whatever he does here, claimed Torrance of Garcias bid to make the team. I told him a while ago.
At 19th on the European team points list, Garcia is a bit of a long shot to make the team automatically; not only must he win this week, but some of his competitors must fall on the standings to even hope to crack the top-10.

Nevertheless, Torrance appreciates the desire and will likely reward the youngster and two-time winner on the American PGA Tour.
Thats quite a gesture from one so young, he claimed. Even if he shoots 95-95, hes in.
Referring to the selection of Garcia as one of his two wildcard picks, Torrance is shaping up to have a rock solid team.
But the ultimate hopes are that he wont have to select Garcia - should the 21-year-old claim victory and break into that magical top-10 position, Torrance might have the opportunity to grab another player who might otherwise not have had a shot.
With all the talented and qualified veterans seemingly out of the picture, that could be huge.
He knows by making it, he might help the team, said Torrance of a possible Garcia win.
And who might some of those other players be?
Jesper Parnevik has been widely regarded as a good choice, and in all probablility, Torrance's next pick.
But at No. 31 on the list, the Swede is electing to play the Air Canada Championship during the week of the BMW, since he has no shot to even make the top-10.
Jose Maria Olazabal would be a great edition on the European side, and at 18th, his shots are similar to Garcias.
Ditto for Robert Karlsson (No. 17), Paul Lawrie (No. 21) or even Dean Robertson (No. 23).
About the only thing that is certain at this point, is that Torrance will be in for one of the toughest decisions of his life.
Ill have to be blunt and say, Sorry, Im not going to pick you, and give my reasons,' he said. 'I will be making two very happy.
So far, it looks like Garcia will be one of those happy faces.
As for the other, only time will tell.
