Garcia Wins Canadian Skins Game


HUNTSVILLE, Ontario - Sergio Garcia picked up eight skins worth $122,354 to win the TELUS Canadian Skins Game at the Grandview Golf Club. The 22-year-old Spaniard, who was shut out on the front nine, won seven skins on the 420 yard par-4 16th hole after the previous six holes were halved. The hole was worth $105,820.
John Daly won a $16,534 skin on the next hole to bring his two-day total to five skins and $56,216. On Monday, Daly won the first four skins with an eagle on the par-4 fourth hole. Daly holed a putt from the fringe after his drive nearly reached the green on the 347-yard hole.
The final skin was decided in a two-hole playoff when Garcia birdied to pick up the final $16,534.
Defending champion Vijay Singh took the lead after Monday's first nine holes, winning five skins worth $59,523.
Candian Mike Weir was unable to win a skin in the two-day event.
