Ginter-Brooker Wins 02 Futures Tour Opener

Sue Ginter-Brooker carded a 74 Sunday in Lakeland, Fla., to win the first Futures Tour event of the year, the Florida Futures Golf Challenge.
 
Ginter-Brooker, a non-exempt player on the LPGA Tour, ended at 4-under-par 212 for the three-day event and took home a first-place check worth $8,400. The title marks her sixth overall win on the Futures Tour.
 
Two shots back at 2-under 214 was Nicole Jeray and Nicole Materne, who each pocketed $5,250, while Lisa Strom shot a final-round 71 to end at 1-under and earn $3,600. In her pro debut, 18-year-old Christina Kim ended in a tie for fifth with Tracy Cone and Ju Kim.
 
The developmental tour travels to Sebring, Fla., next week for the $60,000 Florida Hospital Futures Golf Classic.
