Golf Submits Application for 2008 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reported that golf has made an application to join the Summer Olympics of 2008.
Despite a bid for the 2004 Games in Athens having already been withdrawn, the World Amateur Golf Council made the application on Wednesday, the IOC reported.
The 2004 edition was denied golf due to the fact that the IOC felt old games needed to be dropped in order to add any new games.
The venue for the 2008 Games has yet to be determined. Beijing is expected to win, but Paris and Toronto are also in the running.
