Goosen Scott to Battle Down Under

The European Tour breaks from a three-week run in the Middle East and heads Down Under this week for the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth, Australia.
Headlining the field will be world No. 3 Retief Goosen and the defending champion and host country fan favorite Adam Scott.
Goosen, who will be making his second straight start after a lengthy layoff over the holidays, is a former champion of this event winning the title back in 2002. In fact, in his last for starts in the Johnnie Walker has finished no worse than fourth, which also includes a second-place showing last year.
Showing no signs of rust at the Dubai Desert Classic last week, Goosen held a share of the lead at the 36-hole mark. Ultimately finished in a tie for sixth and will look to improve on that this week.
Scott, currently ranked 10th in the world, cruised to victory last season when the event was held in Beijing. The tournament has rotated between several countries including Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan and this will be the fourth time the event is being held in Australia.
Scott will be joined by fellow Aussie Robert Allenby who is continuing to battle a mysterious aliment in his hand. That didn't, however, hold Allenby back as he recently completed the Australian Triple Crown with his victories at the Australian Open, the Australian Masters and the Australian PGA.
American Fred Couples, the champion of this event in 1995, has made the trek Down Under and will tee it up against several other big name stars in Western Australia.
Michael Campbell, the reigning U.S. Open champion, along with last year's European Tour Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie are on hand to see who will be crowned champion and earn the $365,800 first prize. Campbell is also a former champion, winning the title back in 2000.
The Johnnie Walker Classic is sanctioned by The European Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Asian Tour.
The Golf Channel will televise all four rounds beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. (ET).
