Gove shot 64 to move to 13-under through two rounds, two shots lower than Rod Pampling (67). Overnight leaders Heath Slocum and Brian Bateman are now tied for third place after a pair of 70s.
Patrick Sheehan (69) and Scott Petersen (67) are also in a share of third place at 10-under.
Gove started his second round by sticking a 6-iron to three feet at the 1st. He then rolled in a 14-foot eagle putt on the par-5 2nd.
Following a 15-foot birdie putt at the par-3 3rd, Gove drove the 320-yard par-4 4th and two-putted for birdie.
He finished his front-nine scoring with a pair of five-foot birdie putts on the 6th and 9th holes.
'I'm very pleased with how I played,' said Gove, a two-time tour winner. 'I would much rather be leading than chasing.'
Slocum is vying for his third victory of the season, which would earn him a 'battlefield promotion' to the PGA Tour.
