Gove Grabs Wichita Lead

Jeff Gove shot a season-best 9-under-par 63 to grab the outright lead heading into the weekend at the Buy.Com Wichita Open.

Gove stands at 14-under-par 130. Hes two shots clear of Pat Perez (65) and Todd Fischer (64). Overnight leaders Scott Peterson and Chad Campbell are now tied with Pat Bates (66) for fourth place at 11-under, thanks to a pair of 68s.
Gove got off to horrendous start to the 2001 season, missing five of his first six cuts. However, hes turned it around in his last six events, making five cuts and earning a top-5 finish in the Steamtown Classic.
The 30-year-old Washingtonian played on the Buy.Com Tour from 1995 to 1999. In 99 he won his second career event and finished 12th on the money list, thus earning his way onto the PGA Tour.
As a rookie in the big leagues in 2000, Gove made only 11 of 31 cuts and fell back down to the developmental tour.
Friday, Gove played his first eight holes at the Crestview Country Club in 6-under en route to taking the 36-hole lead.
