Kane Looking For First Career Defense in New Albany

Lorie Kane returns to defend her title at this weeks Wendys Championship for Children on the LPGA Tour.
Kane took the prize last year when she beat out Mi Hyun Kim on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. It marked the second of three wins in a breakout 2000 season, and followed nine runner-up finishes in years prior.
This year, the Canadian-born pro has already chalked up five top-5 finishes, one of which came as a win at the LPGA Takefuji Classic .
She will need to beat out a star-studded field this week if she is to defend, however.
Last weeks winner of the Women's British Open , Se Ri Pak is scheduled to compete. She will be joined by Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb, Dottie Pepper, Grace Park and Laura Diaz.
They will all be gunning for the $150,000 first-place prize of the $1 million purse.
The New Albany Country Club is par-72 layout which measures 6,279 yards. Last year, the event was called the New Albany Golf Classic.
