It marks the start of play on mainland America since the first tournament - the MasterCard Championship - was played in Hawaii. Last week Hale Irwin, Fuzzy Zoeller, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer played the Senior Skins Game in Hawaii with Irwin the winner.
Larry Nelson will be trying to repeat his victory of last year. Allen Doyle returns in an attempt to repeat as the year's top Senior Tour money-winner.
Making his mainland debut on the Senior Tour will be Zoeller and Tom Purtzer. Ben Crenshaw, who was to debute this week, withdrew Wednesday with flu-like symptoms and will wait until next week at Naples, Fla., to begin play on the Senior Tour.
