RSS

The venue was different, but the result the same. Jim Colbert and Andy North followed up an opening-round 59 with a better-ball 7-under-par 65 to successfully defend their title at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf.

North and Colbert finished the event ' which was reduced to 36 holes due to a Friday washout ' at 20-under-par, three shots clear of Bruce Fleisher and David Graham, who shot 65-62-127.

Today was really tough, said North, who split the $340,000 first-place check with his teammate. Because of the wind, the course played hard.

Last year, the winning duo claimed victory on The Slammer and The Squire course. This time, they did so on The King and The Bear course. Both courses are located at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.

Jim Albus and Simon Hobday shot a Sunday 67 to win the Legendary Division for players age 60-69.

Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, The King and The Bear course designers, finished in a tie for 11th after rounds of 66-69-135.

If Im still walking and Jack wants to play with me, I might play with him, said Palmer about a return trip in 2002.

Said Nicklaus: Well see what happens. We dont know how much golf well be playing next year.

Palmer replied: Thats true. We dont even buy green bananas anymore.
