Love to Take More Time Off

After a fine showing of 2-over-par 282 in the United States Open, Davis Love III says he will take some more time off from the game.
His decision has been based upon a painful bulging disc in his neck, which forced the 37-year-old to sit out eight weeks prior to the Open in Tulsa.
I was OK hitting out of the fairways to the greens, but when I got in the first cut of rough I couldnt hit some shots, Love commented of his performance at Southern Hills. I couldnt hit the big, high power cut. I didnt have the strength to hit it out of the rough. Im pretty proud of how well I did, given how little preparation I had.
He probably should be, given that he did not practice hitting golf shots until the Friday before the first day of play.
Now, he feels he needs just a little longer to come back full-time.
I need to give it another couple of weeks to calm down, said Love, who won earlier this year at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Give me a couple more weeks and Ill be OK.
