Lye underwent successful surgery on July 10 to remove a tumor in his thigh. This is the first recurrence since the melanoma was originally discovered on his left knee 10 years ago.
His wife, Lisa, says his leg is healing well and prognosis is positive. Once his leg has healed to a level with which his doctors are comfortable, Lye will undergo intense drug therapy for four weeks, and continue a prescribed therapy program for another 48 weeks. He is expected to resume his normal work schedule soon after the first round of treatments is completed.
Being in this situation makes me realize how much I love the game of golf and the people associated with it, Lye said. I very much look forward to returning to The Golf Channel.
