Martha Burk Visits Augusta

The Augusta Chronicle newspaper reports that Martha Burk visited the city recently to 'just look around.'
The head of the National Council of Women's Organizations is embroiled in a controversy with William (Hootie) Johnson of Augusta National golf club over the admittance of women to the club's membership rolls.
'We were just looking around Augusta is all I'm going to say,' she said.
Burk reiterated that she hopes an agreement is reached before the tournament and she does not have to lead a protest.
'I hope the club does (open to women) and saves its members, the players and the city of Augusta a difficult period during April,' she said.
