Martin Harris Amateurs of the Month

Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin and Georgia State senior Ty Harris were both named September National Amateur of the Month by the Southern Golf Association.
In an unprecedented turn of events, the two college players tied in voting by the SGA's 12-man selection panel of golf officials, journalists and coaches. Rather than try to break the deadlock, the SGA decided to honor both players.
Martin pulled off the improbable feat of winning his very first collegiate competition in the Ping/Golfweek NCAA Preview . Martin, from Malaga, Spain, led Oklahoma State to the team title against most of the top-ranked college squads in the country. He finished strong, with two birdies in the final three holes to win medalist honors by two strokes.
Though playing in a slightly lesser event, Harris jolted into national attention with a win at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at Franklin, Tenn. His 63-68-64-195 tournament-record performance was good for an whopping 11-shot individual victory.
