Nationwide Tour To Visit Five Countries in 2005


Nationwide TourPONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The 2005 Nationwide Tour schedule was released and includes 31 tournaments held in five countries and 21 states with purses of at least $15.6 million.
The Nationwide Tours 16th season will begin the week of Jan. 24-30 in Panama City, Panama at the $525,000 BellSouth Panama Championship and will conclude the week of Oct. 24-30 at the $650,000 Nationwide Tour Championship at a site still to be determined.
Four events'the Knoxville Classic presented by Food City, the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, the Price Cutter Charity Championship and the Albertsons Boise Open presented by First Health'each will return for the 16th consecutive year.
The Tour will once again play twice in Canada, as well as once each in Australia and New Zealand.
One new tournament, the $550,000 Xerox Classic, will debut in Rochester, NY, the week of Aug. 15-21, while the $625,000 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs will expand to three golf courses.
This schedule reflects the growth and stability of this Tour, said Bill Calfee, COO of the Nationwide Tour. Other the past 15 years we have upgraded our tournaments and courses and with the assistance of Nationwide Insurance and Financial Services, we are taking this Tour to new heights.
The Golf Channel, the exclusive broadcast partner of the Nationwide Tour, will televise 16 of the tournaments this coming season.
