NCAA Champ Moore Named Am of Month

With a remarkable three-tournament winning streak, Oklahoma State freshman Jonathan Moore won unanimous selection as Southern Golf Associations National Amateur of the Month Award for May. Moore recorded his first collegiate individual title by winning the Maxwell Intercollegiate in mid-May, then continued his hot hand to win the NCAA Central Regional and the NCAA Championship the next two weeks.
Moore, a redshirt freshman from Vancouver, Wash., ran off a Maxwell tournament-record, 14-under-par 196 at Dornick Hills CC in Ardmore, Okla., then posted an 8-under-par 205 to take individual honors at the NCAA Central by three strokes at Cleveland Ridge G.C. outside Cleveland, Ohio. The latter performance led Oklahoma State to a 16-stroke team victory.
Moore continued the hot streak into the NCAA Championship at Crosswater Creek G.C. in Oregon, taking medalist honors with a 12-under-par 276 total. He closed with a solid 69 final round to key OSUs team title by three strokes over Florida.
