Nelson Seeking More Charity

Larry Nelson will try to do this week what Gil Morgan was unable to accomplish last week. Nelson is vying for his third straight victory in the Farmers Charity Classic in Ada, Mich.
Nelson, who successfully defended his title earlier in the 2001 season, did it once again by shooting 67-67-68 at the 6,960-yard, par-72 Egypt Valley Country Club for a one-shot victory over Jim Ahern.
The win was No. 15 in just his fourth full season on the Senior PGA Tour. He went on to win once more in 01, giving him a total of five by years end. He has three top-5 finishes this season, but no victories.
This is the 17th playing of this event, and the ninth consecutive time it has been contested at this venue. Nelson is the only player ever to repeat as champion. He will now try and become the seventh player in tour history to win the same tournament three straight years.
Neck and right shoulder injuries forced Morgan into a tie for 15th in last week's Instinet Classic.
This week's purse is $1.5 million, with $225,000 going to the winner.
