New DadDefending Champ To Skip Tour Championship

Phil Mickelson will skip next week's Tour Championship, where he is the defending champion, even though his wife, Amy, has already given birth to their second child.
Sophia Isabel Mickelson was born Tuesday afternoon.
'Things are great. Mom and Sophia are wonderful, and we hope to be home in a few days,' Mickelson told the Associated Press.
Mickelson's first daughter, Amanda Brynn, was born the day after he finished second to the late Payne Stewart in the 1999 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
Mickelson had said he would skip the Tour Championship if his wife hadn't delivered prior to the event, but decided to stay at home, anyway.
'I'd love to play,' he said. 'It's a very special tournament and having won last year, it's a tournament I'd love to defend. But right now, the time I'm spending with my family is the most important thing to me, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.'
