New Zealand Course to be Lengthened for Woods

Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club will add about 200 yards of length to its layout in preparation of Tiger Woods' participation in the 2002 New Zealand Open.
Club members approved the redesign of three holes, the par-4 third and a pair of par-5's, No. 12 and 18. The added length will bring the links course up to championship standard but not change its stroke rating.
The changes should be in place by November well ahead of the tournament's January 10, 2002 start.
Woods will reportedly be paid around $2 million for playing the event.
