Nicklaus Pulls Out of Warburg Cup


2001 Warburg CupJack Nicklaus has pulled out of this weeks UBS Warburg Cup in Kiawah Island, SC. Nicklaus told The Golf Channel that he wants to rest a bad back and support his son, Gary, who is trying to get through the second stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in Panama City, Fla.
Dana Quigley replaced the 61-year-old 18-time major winner. Quigley said prior to Thursday's pro-am, This is like a Christmas present.
Nicklaus said he does expect to play with son Jackie in the Office Depot Father/Son Challenge Dec. 1-2.
Quigley rounds out the 12-man United States team that will compete against a dozen players comprised from the rest of the world.
All 12 players will see action each day of the event, which is scheduled for Friday through Sunday.
