Pak Looks for Second Win in 2002

After an off-week, the LPGA Tour returns to action in Lincoln, Calif., and the Twelve Bridges Golf Club for the Longs Drugs Challenge.

Se Ri Pak won this event last year at 8-under-par 208. The victory was one of five total on her season, a career best for the South Korean.

She returns this year in good standing, too, after having taken her first win of 2002 at the Office Depot Championship. Pak beat top-seeded Annika Sorenstam by one stroke in that win, and she will be hoping for more of the same this time around, as she preps for defense against the likes of Juli Inkster, Pat Hurst, Grace Park, Janice Moodie and Cristie Kerr.

Sorenstam is not scheduled to play, however. Neither is Australias Karrie Webb.

This event is in its seventh year. Inkster is the only player ever to win in back-to-back seasons with her triumphs in 1999-2000. On the lines this week is a total purse worth $900,000. The winner of the four-day event will take home $135,000 of that amount.
