PGA National Refurbishes The Champ

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - PGA National officials have spent $4.2 million to renovate The Champ. The course was closed for eight months as a new irrigation and drainage system was installed and state-of-the-art grass was planted.
The course reopened last month to positive reviews from players.
There were few noticeable changes. A bunker was planted to the right of the ninth fairway. A long bunker on the 13th hole was divided into two smaller bunkers. An area near the par-3 seventh hole was cleared out, and the first and 10th tees were shifted slightly to help with traffic flow.
