Player Wins Lawsuit

Gary Player has been awarded $716,000 after suing a company that sold merchandise using his name and his Black Knight trademark from the now defunct Web site.
The company failed to pay quarterly licensing fees since November 2000.
After issuing an injunction to stop sales last October, U.S. District Judge Kenneth Ryskamp found the online company in contempt in November.
Gary Player Golf Inc. was licensed to use Player's name for seven years. It was ordered to stop using his name, the brand name, signature, voice or likeness in any way. His name can not be used in Web sites, e-mail addresses or business names.
