Players Ready for New Event on BuyCom Tour

The Buy.Com Tour explores unchartered waters this week with a brand new event, the Charity Pro-Am at the Cliffs Presented by BMW Manufacturing Corp.
This inaugural golf tournament will be contested at The Cliffs Valley and Vineyard courses in Greenville, S.C. It is to be the first-ever event in Buy.Com Tour history to have amateur play spread over three days of competition.
One-hundred fifty-six professionals will pair with amateur partners for a two-day better-ball format on Thursday and Friday. From there, the 10 best Pro-Am teams advance into Saturdays final play.
The winning amateurs will compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choices, while the pros will be competing for a total purse of $500,000, $90k of which will go to the winner.
Stated PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem: This event is unique to the Buy.Com Tour and we anticipate a great event. The support of BMW Manufacturing Corp. and a pair of great courses at The Cliffs should make this one of the premier events on the Buy.Com Tour.
Already, this fact is showing in the field, as the first-time event is filled with some of the biggest names on the tour. Brett Quigley will be teeing it up, as will Chris Couch, Kelly Gibson, David Gossett and Casey Martin.
Others in attendance include former PGA Tour regulars, Scott Gump, Gary Koch, Jim McGovern and Chip Beck.
