Plenty on Hand This Week in Europe


The European Tour moves into Switzerland this week and the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club for the Omega European Masters.
Several future Ryder Cuppers will be on hand honing their skills, as will quite a few players who just missed making the team following last weeks BMW International Open.
Finishing inside the automatically-qualifying top-10 on the points list, Thomas Bjorn and Lee Westwood are scheduled to compete this week. Even European captain Sam Torrance will be on hand.
Torrance selected Sergio Garcia and Jesper Parnevik as his two wild card picks last Sunday following the BMW.
He did not pick Miguel Angel Jimenez, Ian Poulter or Dean Robertson, all of whom contended down the stretch leading up to last weeks concluding tournament.
Nevertheless, all three will be on hand in Switzerland, gunning for their share of the 1,500,000 euro total purse.
Several international stars will be in the field as well.

Ernie Els will join up with Adam Scott and even the Walrus, Craig Stadler at Crans-sur-Sierre.
So too will Argentinas Eduardo Romero.
Romero serves as the defending champion. He ran away with last years edition, winning in wire-to-wire fashion by ten shots at 23-under-par. The victory served as his seventh European Tour title.
Crans-sur-Sierre is a par-71 which plays to 6,846 yards.
