NCAAWILMINGTON, N.C. - If their latest tournament was a political race, then the No. 5 Purdue women's golf team's victory was a landslide at the 2005 Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., on Sunday.

The Boilermakers, who have won three of four fall events this season, fired a second-round 286, their best of the three-day event, to run away by 17 strokes from the field. Purdue totaled 877 over the 54 holes and Wake Forest took second place with a total of 894.

For the third time in four tournaments, a different Purdue individual took home top honors.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot won the Badger Invitational on Sept. 12 and freshman Maria Hernandez took home top honors at the Lady Northern Invitational on Sept. 25.

Freshman Christel Boeljon picked the perfect time to shoot the lowest round of the tournament by three strokes. Boeljon was in second place after the first two rounds when she posted five birdies and no bogeys on Sunday during her four-stroke victory over Tulsa's Leisl Hasbrouck. Boeljon totaled a 212 and posted two of three rounds (74-71-67) under par.

Junior Myrte Eikenaar finished tied for fourth after totaling 221. She posted a 75 on Sunday after a one-under par 71 in the second round.

Sattayabanphot tied for eighth place overall after a final-round 72. Sattayabanphot's score improved every round of the event and she finished with a total of 223.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman placed 11th after a total of 225. She posted a 75 on Sunday. Hernandez finished in 12th place. She rebounded after a second-round 78 to fire an even-par 72 in the final round. All five Boilermakers are in the top 12 among individuals.

The Landfall Tradition is also featured a 12-team men's tournament.

Both tournaments were held on the Jack Nicklaus designed Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The men's track is a par 72, 6,992-yard layout. The women's course was a par 72, 6,070-yard challenge.

The Boilermakers are in action again on Nov. 11 to 13 at the Hooters Match Play Championships. The 16-team event is a match play, double-elimination tournament. Purdue is the No. 2 seed. UCLA is the top seed on the tournament.
