Rain Halts Play at Senior Tour Champioship

Round 1 of the Senior Tour Championship was halted Thursday as heavy rains caused the course to become unplayable.
Heavy winds and temperatures in the mid-40s made conditions miserable, though no one was even able to finish the front nine.
Defending champion Bob Gilder and Hale Irwin, along with Bruce Fleischer and Tom Kite were the two groups that hadn't even teed off when the horn sounded.

Rodger Davis and Walter Hall both were at 2-under before play was stopped at Gaillardia Golf & Country Club. Davis was through seven holes and Hall was through six holes.
Ed Doughtery was the only other player that was under par.
Tom Watson, Larry Nelson, Don Pooley and Bruce Lietzke all were even par at the time of stoppage of play.
Irwin, who is looking for his fifth win of the season and also to become the first Senior Tour golfer to surpass $3,000,000 in earnings in one season, finished in atie for seventh last year.
Play is scheduled to resume Friday morning at 9 AM CT.
