Rains Wash Out First Round at Celtic Manor

Play has been cancelled due to heavy rains at the Celtic Manor Resort for the first round of the Wales Open.
With the bulk of the weather hitting early, players were pulled off the course at 7:30am local time, and as a result, only nine players managed to begin their rounds.
While tournament officials were initially hoping to resume play in the afternoon, a soaked course and continued precipitation led them to call the round at 1:30pm.
Play is scheduled to resume first thing in the morning Friday, with the first round to hopefully be completed by days end. The second round will be played on Saturday, and the final 36 holes will be contested on Sunday.
A cut of the top-50 players will be made on Saturday evening instead of the usual top-70.
