Ramsay Named Am of Month

Young Scotsman Richie Ramsay, winner of the U.S. Amateur, has been selected as the Southern Golf Associations National Amateur of the Month for August. Ramsay became the first Scot in 108 years to win the U.S. Amateur when he defeated Missouri senior John Kelly, 4 and 2, in the 36-hole final at Hazeltine National Golf Club near Minneapolis.
Ramsay was a tower of consistency in the final, hitting 32 of 34 greens before the match concluded. He distinguished himself by overcoming two unwitting loss-of-hole penalties in the final two days, including one by his 17-year-old caddy, whom Ramsay embraced and publicly forgave.
June Am of the Month winner Webb Simpson was a semifinalist in the U.S. Amateur.
