Reno-Tahoe Open Will Continue

The Reno-Tahoe Open will continue through 2006. The PGA Tour has agreed to pick up the entire $3 million purse and tournament organizers have reached an agreement on a four-year extension of its contract, RTO director Jim Kline said.
The Tour included the RTO on its 2003 schedule, which was released in November, but the RTO board of directors wanted to look into options before making a decision. Those options included looking into a non-PGA Tour-sanctioned event or simply ending the tournament.
The RTO, played at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Montreux Golf & Country Club in Reno, will be held Aug. 21-24. Little will change from the first four years, unless Kline can reach his ultimate goal of finding a title sponsor, which would contribute $5-6 million annually to the RTO.
