NORTH PLAINS, Ore. (AP) -- A brief look at Thursday's first round of the U.S. Women's Open, played on the 6,550-yard, par-71 Witch Hollow course at Pumpkin Ridge (all times ET):
 
Leading: Mhairi McKay at 5-under 66.
 
Trailing: Juli Inkster and Donna Andrews at 69.
 
Teen talk: Morgan Pressel (age 15) and Aree Song (17) each had a 70, and were among the only eight players to break par. Ten of the 14 teenagers shot no worse than 76, the average score at Pumpkin Ridge.
 
Streaking: McKay failed to make a par over her final eight holes. She made five straight birdies, two bogeys and closed with another birdie.
 
Slumping: Se Ri Pak and Karrie Webb each shot 77.
 
Sorenstam: Annika Sorenstam took 32 putts for a 72.
 
Noteworthy: McKay matched the U.S. Women's Open record for the largest 18-hole lead at three strokes. It was last set by Helen Alfredsson in 1994.
