San Diego Woman Sues Club

Birgit Koebke, a German-born TV executive from San Diego, is suing Bernardo Heights Country Club in San Diego because it has refused to recognize long-time gay partner Kendall French as her spouse. Also, the club insists French be treated as an outside visitor each time she plays at the club with Koebke.
The spouses of members of Bernardo Heights don't have to pay green fees. Nor do their children, but because the club won't accept Koebke and French as a married couple, French, like any guest of a member, is only exempt from paying green fees if she is invited on one of the six guest passes each member is allowed per annum.
After that she has to pay the $70 green fee.
