Seniors Come Back To Iowa

The Senior PGA Tour returns to Des Moines, IA for the inaugural $1.75 million Allianz Championship.
The tour last visited the Hawkeye State for the 1999 U.S. Senior Open, which was won by Dave Eichelberger. The tournament was well received by fans, prompting a permanent stop on the schedule.
Two years ago the Senior Open was contested at the Des Moines Golf & Country Club. This weeks venue is Glen Oaks Country Club.
Eichelberger, Bruce Fleisher, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Bruce Lietzke, Gil Morgan, Larry Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Doug Tewell are among the notables competing for the $262,500 first-place prize.
The Allianz Championship takes the place of the Comfort Classic on the Senior schedule ' much to the dismay of Morgan, who had won the last two tournaments at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Club in Speedway, Ind.
This is the second maiden event on the Senior Tour in 2001. Irwin won the inaugural Siebel Classic in March.
