04 Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic The Nationwide Tour heads into Texas for the 13th edition of the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic, the tour's penultimate event before the season-ending Tour Championship.

While the majority of the players are most concerned with trying to earn their PGA Tour cards for next year by finishing in the top 20 on the season-ending money list, that is something that won't be figured out until the completion of the Tour Championship in two weeks.

In the meantime, the race to get into that tournament is a battle that will take place here in Texas and next week in Florida.

The top-55 on the tour's money list are given invitations to the Tour Championship in Alabama and there are a slew of players who could make a move in the next two weeks to make it into the lucrative season finale.

Sixteen players are within $20,000 of Tyler Williamson, who currently sits in the 55th spot on the money list. Conversely, another eight players are within just $10,000 of falling outside the top-55.

Last year, D.J. Brigman fired a final-round 6-under 66 to get his first-ever Nationwide Tour victory, finishing one shot ahead of Mark Hensby, Jimmy Walker and Jason Dufner.

For the hard luck Hensby, it marked the third time in the previous four years that he finished the tournament in the runner-up position.

The purse for this years event is $450,000 with $81,000 going to the champion.

Next week the tour lands in Miami, Fla., for the Miccosukee Championship, the final full-field event of the season.
