Slow Down the Ball Pleads European Official

The major golf tours must act to limit ball flight, at least in the majors, says Jaime Patino, European PGA president.
'We are in danger of spoiling the game,' said Patino, who also owns Valderrama, the Spanish golf course which hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup. 'There has to be a limit imposed, or else it will became a drive-and-wedge game.'
Patino suggested that the sport's major bodies agree that players use a standard specification ball which goes approximately 20 yards less than current balls.
