Solheim Cup Sold Out

CARMEL, Ind. -- The 2005 Solheim Cup, the most prestigious team event in women's professional golf, pitting the United States against Europe over three days of grueling competition, has sold out to the general public.
The event, which will be broadcasted exclusively by The Golf Channel and be held from Sept. 9-11 at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., will feature capacity crowds every day of competition.
Due to the growing popularity and international demand for access to the event, entries were accepted from Sept. 1-Dec. 31, 2004, and a random drawing was held Jan. 9 to determine who would receive tickets. This marked the first time tickets for The Solheim Cup were distributed via random drawing and consequently the first time The Solheim Cup has sold out in the United States.
'We are thrilled The Solheim Cup has sold out and are extremely pleased with the random drawing process,' said Kelly Hyne, 2005 Solheim Cup director. 'The Solheim Cup is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious events in all of sports, and the worldwide demand for tickets was extremely high. The random drawing was necessary to give everyone an equal opportunity to be part of this event and a method we anticipate using for future Solheim Cups. I am very excited with the results and even more excited to see the crowds at this year's Solheim Cup. I am sure they will be as supportive and patriotic as ever.'
